VERBUND Hydro Power GmbH is planning the construction of a new combination boat (icebreaker and towboat) for the river Danube. The operational area will include the entire Austrian Danube including the HPP Jochenstein on the border to Germany and also the border area Austria/Slovakia. The vessel is basically operated as a towboat (pushing boat) and during the winter season, if necessary, as an icebreaker in several backwater areas.
